On March 24, 2020, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors unanimously enacted
an emergency eviction moratorium to temporarily protect tenants from being displaced
from their homes during the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis. The emergency
eviction moratorium protects eligible tenants against COVID-19 related nonpayment of
rent and no-fault evictions. Please read these FAQs for more detailed information on
the emergency eviction moratorium, who is protected, and how eligible tenants should
make delayed payments in accordance with the law.
